Rapid Progress on Gokhale Bridge: Full Traffic Access Expected by May 2024

Gokhale Bridge Update

Today, I conducted a site visit to the Gokhale Bridge alongside BMC officers and contractors to review the ongoing work. Significant progress has been made on both sides of the bridge:

East Side:
All 4 foundations have been completed.
All 4 piers are completed.
3 out of 4 pier caps are completed.
1 out of 4 girders has been landed, with 3 remaining.
85% of the RE ramp construction is complete.

West Side:
All 5 foundations are completed.
All 5 piers are completed.
4 out of 5 pier caps are completed.
2 out of 5 girder landings are done, with 3 pending.

The work is progressing at a rapid pace, and we are on track to open the bridge for full traffic by May. It is worth noting that we successfully opened one side of the bridge for traffic on February 26, 2024, just 13 months after the project commenced, enabling us to focus on completing the second phase.

This milestone underscores our commitment to improving infrastructure and ensuring smooth connectivity for the community.
